NEW YORK (AP) – Fantasia is feeling the love – and says she hasn’t felt this good since winning “American Idol” in 2004.

The singer’s fourth album, “Side Effects of You,” debuted at No. 1 and No. 2 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop and Top 200 albums charts last week. She said the response is both welcome and complicated, especially after her last few tumultuous years.

“It feels really good,” she said softly. “You have to be very careful because there was a time when I went from being up here and everybody loved you and then when (that) ole thing happened, it was like, ‘OK, everybody …’ – so it’s almost, like, tricky.”

The Latin Recording Academy announced the Spanish singer’s selection Wednesday. He will be honored with a tribute gala and concert in November before the Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas.

President and CEO of the Latin Recording Academy Gabriel Abaroa Jr. called Bose a talented performer and philanthropist who has had a profound impact.

Bose has recorded more than 30 albums and also appeared in more than 35 films.

Discovery, Daft Punks 2001 album, took listeners by surprise upon its release. With its slick, unmodulated wedding-band synthesizers, its video-game beeps and blurts, its blithe, repetitive and hedonistic lyrics and its heavy use of talkbox and vocoder, it felt out of time. It seemed to have fallen through a wormhole from a mythologized early-80s era that everybody was too blissed out to remember clearly.

Discovery was flashy, but its makers werent: the two members of Daft Punk wore robot masks and refused to grant many interviews. The French duo let the music do the talking, and did so in a voice untroubled by quotidian cares.

King, a conservative firebrand from the state’s GOP-heavy west, had long eyed a challenge of Harkin, who was elected to the Senate in 1984 but has decided not to seek a sixth term. But King, a six-term U.S. House member, said in a press statement Friday: I will not be a candidate for the United States Senate in 2014.

King said he had more pressing battles to fight in the House and that a long Senate battle would be a distraction.

He also reported raising $93,000 in the first quarter of 2013, a fraction of what would be required to wage a competitive Senate race that’s expected to run into the tens of millions of dollars.

It is my intention to turn my efforts and energy with great vigor to the issues at hand, King said in his statement.

Public Enemy’s Chuck D is not pleased about how the “n-word” is being used today in contemporary hip-hop and he made it known to all as he wrote openly about it in his Twitter account. The hip-hop pioneer zeroed-in on rap moguls and “Watch the Throne” collaborators Jay-Z and Kanye West, slamming the two superstars’ “Ni**as in Paris” as the reason why he was called out as such by a fan when he was in the French capital.
