BRITISH band Arctic Monkeys have been announced as the first headliner for Falls Festival and Southbound.
Fleet Foxes, The Jezabels, Tim Finn and comedian Arj Barker have also been confirmed for the New Year music events. Easy Star All Stars will perform exclusively at Falls Festival.
The six acts are the first of many that organisers are promising for the three camping festivals.
Falls Festival is split between Lorne, Victoria, and Marion Bay, Tasmania, from December 28, while Southbound takes place in Busselton, WA, on January 7-8.
Arctic Monkeys havent played in Australia since their Big Day Out shows in 2009.
The Sheffield four-piece are responsible for the biggest selling UK debut album in history with Whatever People Say I Am Thats What Im Not and recently released their fourth album Suck It And See.
US folk band Fleet Foxes will be making only their second visit and have hinted they might have new songs by the time they arrive. Theres no such promise from reggae covers act Easy Star All Stars, who will be performing their famed Dub Side Of The Moon set in tribute to Pink Floyd.
A ticket ballot for all three festivals is now open.
