FOO Fighters are returning to rock Australia with a series of concert spectaculars set for summer.

The US rockers will play outdoor shows in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Gold Coast between November 28 and December 10.

Foo Fighters are promising a big name bill with Jack Blacks band Tenacious D the first support act to be confirmed.

The five-piece rock band last visited in March when they played benefit shows for victims of the Queensland floods and an epic three-hour set on Sydneys Goat Island.

Frontman Dave Grohl vowed to return for bigger shows in support of the seventh Foo Fighters studio album Wasting Light.

Tickets go on sale from July 14.

Foo Fighters play the following shows:

November 28 – nib Stadium, Perth

December 2 – AAMI Park, Melbourne

December 5 – Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

December 8 – Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney

December 10 – Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast
