Bonjour! Or, Bon Bastille Jour! In case you were not already aware today is that most festive of French holidays, Bastille Day. Every July 14th, France holds a big celebration for the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille during their revolution in 1789. Madeon

He’s only 17 years old, and has already taking the electronic scene by storm with a number of amazing remixes he’s released over the last year. Don’t believe me? Check out the video of him below casually working 39 tracks into a mash-up just for fun. Sac le bleu!

Pyramid

This French student from Lyon has had a lot of popular tracks over the last few months. Perhaps his best one was this remix of Caribou’s Sun which took it up to the level of Caribou’s other big hit, Odessa.

This is a magical move inspired by The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. It’s a modern-day musical set in Paris, about love, loss, and beautiful cinematography.

Time To Leave

A bit of a downer, but it will make you think. In this film, a gay photographer finds out he has terminal cancer. Who he tells, and how he approaches the news takes up the bulk of the films’ time.

Water Drops on Burning Rocks

A 50 year old French man seduces a 19 year old boy who then moves in with him. Complications arise when the younger guys girlfriend shows up. I’ve never heard of a movie that sounds more French than this one.

The Witnesses

A film focusing on how people in Paris deal with the first years of the AIDS crisis.

The Man of My Life

Two men meet while vacationing in the countryside, SUNFLOWERS ARE INVOLVED.
