It’s the End of the World! Wanna Dance? A Playlist for The Rapture!

“Rapture” can mean different things to different people… Hey Folks! As you may have heard, tomorrow could sort of be the end of the world (aka “The Rapture”) depending on what you believe. So, you might want to make plans. I’d say enjoy this final Friday… Dinner with friends, enjoy the sunset, get your hair did.
And for tomorrow, it is really the end, I’d like to go out dancing! And I’m not the only one… I quizzed a few musicians, artists, drag queens and just other fun folks to see what they would choose as their “end of days” swan song, and now it’s time to share the results!!!
Here we go! As Brit-Brit says, “keep on dancing til the world ends…”
XAVIER – NYC-based musician
Stir It Up – Bob Marley What better way to go out but calm and easy: “I’ll push the wood. I’ll blaze your fire. Then I’ll satisfy your heart’s desire” Fire next time, indeed.
More “last dance” jams after the jump!!! We’re talking Erasure, Robyn, Whitney, Kylie and more!
Trish Bendix – Managing Editor, AfterEllen.com
“I would dance to “Dancing on My Own” by Robyn, because it’s my jam and if I have to go out, I’m going out to Robyn.”
Robbie Daw – Writer/Blogger for Idolator.com/Chartrigger.com
“I’d tear it up to old-school Kylie – probably “Better The Devil You Know.” If the world is going to crash and burn, it might as well happen with a Stock Aitken Waterman soundtrack.”
Jesse Archer – actor/writer Erasure’s “Blue Savannah” – it’s ethereal, beautiful, poetic – a perfect background anthem to my post-rapture looting spree.
Gusty Winds – NYC drag diva
k.d. lang singing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
DJ Jeff Chatterton – NYC-based DJ
I’d pick the classic “Vertigo – Relight My Fire” by Dan Hartman featuring Loleatta Holloway (who are now both singing from the great big disco in the sky). “You gotta be sure enough to walk on through the night There’s a new day on the other side ‘Cos I got hope in my soulI keep on walkin’, keep on walkin’ baby…”
Jared Abbott (aka DJ Pfffflol) – Barcelona-based kickass DJ
Here’s mine… “World X” by Angela Dean.
Mystique Summers – drag starlet, cast member of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2
Whitney Houston’s “Its Not Right, But It’s OK” ’cause thats my THEME SONG. I started drag with it… And i will end drag with it.
Viva Ruiz – performance artist/diva
Prince’s “In Love.” Mmmm Mmm Mmm… That would be my outro song of the moment. “What more do I have to say? I really wanna play in your river…” Rapturous.
TJ Kelly – cast member, The A-List: New York
Uhmmm, obviously “Til the World Ends” by Britney. I mean she is Life to me, so it makes sense to die listening to her!!
Jon Mallow – cohost of “Drag Ya Later with Jon & John” Obviously, it’s “Last Dance” by Donna Summer. Hands down.
So… Good luck, Kids! See you in heaven! Or at the “Post-Rapture Looting Party!”
